10 most popular Messageboard topics of 2010

Based on number of pageviews, we bring you the ten most popular BikePGH Messageboard Topics of 2010:

#10 Drama with AE and some gate crashing antics brought What’s up with the south end of Hot Metal? in at #10

#9 The heartwarming thread Good People secured the #9 slot. It’s good to see that not just bad things get lots of views.

#8 An example of the opposite of “good people,” in one of the more bizarre local stories of 2010, a local radio host is immortalized on the internet in the thread KDKA Radio’s Mike Pintek is a sick sick man when he said he wanted to “bump” cyclists with his car and “to scare the living crap out of them” on the air. Cyclists struck back.

#7 The cycling-group-that-could, Flock of Cycles, had an incredible year, and the messageboard loves them for it.

#6 An unfortunate reminder of some of last year’s violence: Cyclist Attacked on East Liberty Blvd-Memorial Day Weekend

#5 The first thread on this board to start an internet meme, the classic Bumper Bike Strikes Again! in at a solid #5 and topping the charts for the second year in a row.

#4 An oldy, but a goodie, the Sticker Slogans thread was topped again for the next batch of BikePGH stickers (coming soon)

#3 In at #3 is the Long Overdue Introductions Thread, no doubt boosted by being stickied at the top

#2 Sadly, the grim reminder of Cyclist Killed on Harts Run Rd and the ghost bike that followed.

#1 No surprise here, but the The Pittsburgh Tag-o-Rama wins the most popular thread of 2010, and the first thread on the board to close in on 1,000 posts!

Yay! 60 percent were purely positive in their content/intent (including bumper bike in this category). A full 50 percent had the impact of bringing people from the cycling community together, either in person (FOC, Bike Meetings on Violence in East End, Cyclist Killed on Harts Run) or through enhanced interaction on the board (Introductions thread, Tag o Rama). That's a positive for the cycling community and the City.

Cool info - along with all of the other year-end lists I've been following, I was wondering about the top ten Bike-Pgh posts. I've also been wondering who will take the 1,000th post on the Tag-o-Rama.

Can anyone figure out how to do confetti sprays on the message board? It would be appropriate.

1000th post? Us Tag-O-Rama-ers don't need no stinkin' 1000th posts.

We're waiting for the real action, the 100th tag. Currently we're at around 80 and counting...

:-)

Who's going to sweep up the confetti? The internet could get all clogged up if it gets in the tubes, and they'll have to close it for cleaning again.

ted stevens' quote was the subject of an OTB trivia question the other night. unfortunately it was the less notorious part of the quote regarding what teh internets are not (a big truck) and not the more memorable part regarding what the internets are (a series of tubes)... so my team got it wrong

Ya, that loser team was me. After we got one question right at the end of round 3 we left. Hope to try again this coming week and maybe get more than 10 points. :)
