600 bikes, starting at $75, or $290 for the lot.

Hmm.

I think they meant "6.00 bikes for sale".

Edit: Oh Lord, it says $290000 takes the lot. Wow.

the more insane thing is that if that is what he meant thats almost 500 dollars a bike.

I am guessing this might be the person who was on 51 in a Levitsky building a few years back. 51 south near the goodwill. the building was packed with hundreds if not thousands of bikes. I went in, randomly picked a POS bike and was like "how much"

The person there was like "oh the hurricane... we are asking 90 for that" and it was total junk. Im sure they are still sitting on them.

It would make sense if the final average retail price on the bikes was around $1200-$2000. The person buying the lot would, most likely, be selling to retailers, each with with their own markup.

If a substantial portion was the 19th century bikes? If they had a nice collection of British police bicycles of different eras? If they had some racing bakes (maybe even race-winning bikes)? I suppose it would be possible that is a reasonable price.

Doesn't seem likely if the cheapest is $75, though.

FreeRide has 600 vintage bikes, don't they?

Going through a stash of 600 cycles is akin to going through a stash of 600 old coins or 600 LPs and 78s. Probably 599 of them are going to be common items of little value, but just maybe, the stash will contain that 1909-S VDB cent or that unfindable "Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" LP.

I'm not sure what constitutes a rare bicycle, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that somewhere in the stash is a much-missed cycle stolen from someone's porch 10 years ago.

I would be very leery purchasing a bike from someone I don't know, especially if he had as many as 600 bikes!! More than likely some, if not all those bikes were stolen.I would feel more comfortable buying a used bike in a bike shop.

I would like to meet the guy who steals 600 bikes, just to sit on them.

Igor Kenk is accused of stealing and sitting on more than 3,000 stolen bikes (among other things) in Toronto, and it seems he's out on bail. I guess he was also known for selling the stolen bikes out of his shop.

is this guy in belleview? a friend of mine is supposed to interview someone in belleview who has a huge collection of bikes for an upcoming documentary, and possibly borrow some of his bikes for a haunted house exposé.

There's been guy in Bellevue who's had a jillion signs nailed to phone poles over the last few years, offering to buy antique bikes. He bought a couple off of me about 10 years ago.

If it's that guy, they're probably legit.
