And now for something completely different...

50+ velomobile pilots will be riding across the US next month.

They won't get closer to us than a bit north of Grove City on Sunday August 21st, it appears. I may ride up to check 'em out, depending on schedule.

200 km / day for 4 weeks. Some of those guys come from countries that aren't 200 km across at the wide part. They'll have to ride in circles to train.

Eh, how much training do they really need? They are essentially piloting rolling couches, right?

...rolling couches wrapped in fiberglass. I bet those things get hot in August in Ohio. And even fully faired, you don't get back on the downhills what you put into lugging those couches up the foothills of the Alleghenies.

On the plus side, I guess you can pack them full of ice.

They still have to pedal the couch. And 200 km is a pretty good distance for a day. Especially with hills.

I like the looks of those velomobiles, I would like to test ride one of those.

Anybody have any contacts at Heinz? I would volunteer to be the official Heinz picklemobile driver. It could be their green initiative.

I bet you'd look darling in the costume, too.
