Anybody riding Tour De Cure (Diabetes) Sun. June26?

I'm wondering if anybody here is riding the Diabetes Tour de Cure this Sunday, June 26, up in the Zelie area?

I'm going, considering either the century or the 50m if it isn't raining. A long day on the bike goes better with company.

Anybody riding?

I am contemplating it. I have done the century in years past. I am going to see if I am busy and what the weather is like.

Not this year. With the wedding & honeymoon, I didn't think I'd be ready in time both physically and fundraising terms. (Still doing the TourDeCure this year, just doing it in the finger lakes instead.)

I highly recommend it. It's a fun ride, and I thought they were very well organized. I did the century and the last 20 miles or so involve going into a gorge in a state park... and that part is really, really cool!

I'd like to do this but it's just a bit too last minute.

@mr marvelous the setup is pretty similar. Stops every 20-25 miles, with one being more 'lunch like' than the others.

Actually, I think the snacks were generally better at the TDC... a couple had homemade PB&J sandwiches, for example.

I looked it up online and its $150 to join. I can't swing that much on short notice. But I will do it next year.

mr marvelous - its $20 to register, you're expected to do $150 worth of fundraising.

Really wish I could but I dont think theres anyway I could raise $150 in a week and a half.

I'm doing the century again this year, it's a lot of fun. Last year the rest stops were really far apart, one in particular I can't remember which. Almost everyone I ran into ran out of water half way. In case it's like this again, I would bring a camel back or an extra water bottle if possible.

IIRC, there was a long break between the 1st and 2nd stops and possibly between the 3rd & 4th last year.

I did contact the TourDeCure folks and pointed them to this thread, also recommended that they post info on here directly next year.

Haven't heard back from them though.

2011 100 mile rest stops:

0 - Seneca Valley HS

14 - Ellwood City Fire Dept

40 - Villa Maria

57 - Volant Fire Dept

73 - Plain Grove ballfield

87 - Kildoo Picnic Area in McConnells Mill

100 - Seneca Valley HS

26 miles between #1 and #2, so don't blow past Ellwood City! Also, the first 40 include some of the easier terrain. After #2 intervals are fairly consistent, 17, 16, 14 miles.

2011 50 mile rest stops:

0 - Seneca Valley HS

14 - Ellwood City Fire Dept

29 - Center Presbyterian Church

37 - Kildoo Picnic Area in McConnells Mill

50 - Seneca Valley HS
