Anyone have a handlebar shim 25.4 to 26mm

Does anyone have a handlebar shim that would let me use my 25.4mm bars with a 26mm stem? I would only need it for a week or two until I work out my reach with an adjustable stem. I bought the wrong size.

I've used an aluminum can for a couple years on a bike.

I am not against using an aluminum can as this is just temporary.

Well I cut amcan up, cranked down the bolts, put some pressure on the bars and they slipped. Is there some technique I am missing out on?

Try one of 2 things. 1: Try and fit more can in there. If not they 2: Get some Tacx grease. It has a bit of a sand like material in it and will make the two surfaces grab.

You could also try a Fosters can, it is a bit thicker than a standard can. Or better yet a Sapporo can is made out of steel (I think, or very thick aluminum).

You could always try a layer of aluminum mesh, the type that is used when applying bondo body filler to a car. My guess is that the aluminum is just too smooth, maybe a run of 80grit sand paper would help?

i'd be careful though. seatpost is one thing but a pair of handlebars is another. you don't want those suddenly slipping and sliding while you zoom down penn ave. best to wait and get the correct size stem.

I ended up forking over the stupid $12 after not being able to get them secure enough. Oh well.
