Best computer for the money?

Hey, I'm looking for something wireless and that has cadence and maybe a heart monitor in addition to all the normal stuff. Can anyone recommend anything?

you must be SERIOUS.

but seriously. I have 0 suggestions.

I just wanted to say that having cadence on my new

computer has made a huge difference in my riding.

I do know where I should be and what it feels like,

but having somethign telling you that you are wrong

makes more of a difference.

yeah... i'd say i'm pseudo-serious. definitely not investing in a power tap though ;)

I also want to know about this. I've been thinking about buying one soon, too. Let us know what you have at least brand and model wise.

Wireless with cadence and heart rate... I'm sure something is out there but it's just not coming to mind.

That said, if you're planning to use it in groups, at the oval, racing, many of the wireless systems are susceptible to interference with other wireless computers. Some are 'coded' or whatever to prevent this, but many aren't. And most cadence sensors are wired, even if the speed function is wireless. Makes no sense, but sometimes reality doesn't.

I have a wireless Niterider unit that has proven reliable without any weird 99MPH quirks under electrical lines or any of that craziness that sometimes happens. No cadence or heart rate though.

i've used two wireless comps with cadence and heartrate. the first was the blackburn (i forget the exact model, but it was 5.0 not 6.0 - no altimeter.) it's not the fancy 2.4 ghz model neuro that just came out.

i can't recommend it at all. wireless speed with wired cadence and hr. i stopped using the hr monitor after it got really flaky, even with new batteries and such. just too much work. the cadence stopped working after about 1.5 years. the speed was always buggy with it resetting after about 42.5 mph. on descents i'd notice it drop for 42 to 38 to 22 to 0 until i slowed down enough to see 39 or so accurately.

what did attract me to it though was the amount of data on screen at once. 4 lines. it was nice to see so much without having to scroll. but all the other problems pissed me off and it's since been retired.

i just got the cat eye v3 (rob lochner has also picked it up). it's expensive (retail is something like 150 bucks) but it's got wireless speed and wireless cadence and hr. 4 lines of data (always displays speed, hr and cadence - you can scroll to see current, max and average of all at the same time). then there's the scrolling line that has distance, time, ride time, etc. 2.4 ghz transmission - so far i haven't had any problems with interference or such. speed doesn't blink out of anything. it's expensive, but i've really liked it. i looked at some other stuff like the strada double wireless but i wanted to see more on the screen at once. ask me or rob about it on friday in case i forget to bring it up.

I thought this was going to be a mac vs. pc thread. I am disappointed.
