Bike donation sites in Pgh?

Does Pittsburgh have a group of people that accepts used bikes for people to learn to fix up?

yes, it's called free ride. www.freeridepgh.org

we have limited hours over the winter, but we'll be open saturdays from 1-5pm. if you have bikes or parts you'd like to donate, just come in with them and someone will help you.

if saturday doesn't work for you, you can donate whenever construction junction (the building free ride is located inside) is open.. just ask an employee how to do this.

Thanks! I'm moving, and want to leave my old bicycle, so this is perfect.

Boy it'd be nice if Free Ride could have additional drop-off sites, even if it's just one weekend morning a month in a shopping center parking lot. One north one weekend, one south another, west a third, and so forth. The biggest thing holding me back from donating frames and other equipment is simply not being able to get to the East End except on rare occasions.

What, other than money and help, would be needed to get something like that started?

Stu, I'm about to send you a message.

Stu, PM me. I can pick them up in the truck and haul them to the east end for you.

@lcharder -- thanks for thinking to recyle the bike!
