bike racks

Where are the best bike racks in Pittsburgh?

I'm most familiar with ones around the East End, so the Oakland library racks are good, but I think Whole Foods in East Liberty blows them away, consistently. Not for locking up bikes, not at all, but for looking at bikes!

I was over there this morning, en route from Home Depot, and buying some milk and coffee and onions and tomatillos. On my way out, I checked out the rack. Bikes with barend shifters, including a cream aluminum Trek tourer with a front brake booster. A gaudy Tommasini with chrome lugs. A beatup maroon frame with chrome fork and riser bars and Dura Ace wheels! -- flip-flop rear-- also with double-strap toe clips. A gray lugged frame, couldn't tell the maker, but with a nice modern crank and outboard-bearing BB Maybe there were a couple stock bikes, but everything else was fitted and refitted and loved. Nice to see.

And, yes, a couple of Bike-Pgh stickers.

that's funny, i just took a picture of that the other day. Yes i'm a nerd. i couldn't believe how many bikes were there, and that didn't include the two new racks they just put in.

definitely my fav place to check out other bikes (and bikers)
