Bike-Tek theft in Squirrel Hill

http://www.wpxi.com/news/28332094/detail.html

Anyone have any knowledge on the bike make/models? That would surely help!

Wow.

Performance got robbed overnight, too.

It it wrong for me to think that they could have likely found more valuable bikes instead of what they got?

Either way, that sucks to hear.

They have a couple of bikes hanging in the front window on display, and then there are metal bars separating them from the rest of the store. Probably had something to do with it...?

That might.

This has happened in other walks of my life where music stores and paintball stores have been robbed and the thieves make off with all kinds of low dollar items while passing the real high dollar stuff. I understand that if someone steals a $10,000 bicycle that it would be obvious to see it around, but still.

They aren't going to sell them for much more than $50 or $100 no matter how expensive they are. Anything more would take to long to unload and get drug money.

The bike that we had stolen out of performance was an Access Raptor, in green if I remember correctly. http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1095559_-1___

Access is only sold at performance, and we haven't sold any of those bikes yet so if you see one around town its the one.

On a funnier note, this bike is sold for 600, and was right beside a 1300 dollar road bike that these jerks could have taken. Idiots.

People probably can't ride road bikes and don't know the value of bikes in general.

Yeah, I understand that the bike/guitar/camera is only worth what they can get for it in less than 24 hours but it still lingers in my head.

Keep in mind that people will waste their money on a $200 department store FULL SUSPENSION mountain bike and fail to realize that at that price range, the suspension is nothing more than a gimmick. To the uninitiated, a bike with *shocks* and Alivio/Deore components seems better than a rigid fork, skinny-tired, Tiagra/105 level road bike.
