Looks like something that would cause you a lot of problems at a TSA checkpoint :)

If you have a bicycle, you don't need an airplane. Besides, with the stupid TSA lines so long, you might get there faster on a bike than a plane. ;-)

I'll also be making some smaller doo-dads to give to people who don't have any fancy lights.

No bike shall be left un-lit!

Wow and I thought I brought the BikeRave last time. I'm humbled by your watts

rob... i'd like to learn a little bit more about wiring LEDs and things, i want to hook something up to my generator hub since my last light broke and the new ones i have don't work that well. can you help me in this quest?

Sure can. LEDs are usually super easy, depending on how many you want and the power source. If you have any questions I can't answer, I work with people who definitely can.

awesome. basically i have a 6v 3w generator hub that has a terminal for three electrical connections, one for a front light, one for a rear, and one for something else... i just want something that won't take too much power from my front light but will give me some side visibility, maybe 5 LEDs on my toptube or something like that... i just need something weatherproof that can have variable power input and still work... do these LEDs exist?

Most standard LEDs run from somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5 volts, depending on the color, so from one source we can run several leds in parallel and should be able to get something out of it. Not sure how much this will impact your front and rear lights though. If you can give me the make and model of your generator and lights I can probably figure it out.

someone needs to hook bumperbike up with this technology.

I want to wrap my whole bike in xmas lights but i am not electronically inclined in the slightest..I wanna make my bike bright and crazy!! Someone give me some pointers.

@CPollack: check instructables.com; they have multiple tutorials on such things. Easiest one uses a big honkin' 12-volt battery and an inverter to run standard Christmas lights...

Ughh, is this light ride on the first Fri. of August or the next? I will be out of town for the first weekend of August.

I used to ride wrapped up in xmas lights before I got proper lighting for my bike. It was kind of cool

You are in luck, the first Friday is midnight mass. Second Friday is Flock All Night.

Sucks, because I'll be out of town the second weekend. Hopefully the light show becomes a trend :)
