Birthday party! February 16th

Hey Guys and gals! My birthday is on a Saturday this year, so I'm ahving a big party (It's a big birthday). I've having an open bar, the Boilermakers Jazz band for swing dance, there will be contra dance, blues dance, and then some sloppy rock and roll. I might hire baby sitters, if called for (the place has a back room that might be OK for little ones.) I don't want to announce the place on a public forum. Here is a tag-o-rama type clue- it isn't as centrally located as I want (3.5 miles from Dippy) , but it is a hell of a fun place to go to on a bike. Green in mid winter! If you are interested in attending please PM me for details (uh ...please include your real name). I plan to ride to this party and I hope YOU ride with me! Mick

Oh man, it's worth going just for the Boilermakers Jazz band alone

There will be a bike ride to this party - leaving Dippy at 6:15. Also, some kind of ride back to Oakland (and possibly other East End locations) after the party is over.

In! And I probably will be joining the Dippy parade group ride to the party.

I'm assuming the party will be multi-hour? Would miss the ride out by 45 minutes but everything else sounds fun and probably doable.

Topping this. Weather calls for 28 high and 20 low for Saturday. I'll still be riding and hoping for company. My mandate is to leave at exactly 6:15, seeing as how hanging around might not be fun.

They say the guys from Alpha Centauri that I invited have just landed in the Ural mountains. I wonder if they brought their bikes?

So that's what that meteor was all about--transit!

That's what my brothers arriving in Siberia look like, too.

I would expect those guys to ride trikes, not bikes.

Totally redoing the post from a few minutes ago. I said I wasn't coming, but someone else had a change in plans so maybe I will anyway. I guess I'll find out when I get there if I get there. And thank you, Erok, for extending the edit time beyond 10 minutes. Sometimes, you need to edit a post beyond 10 minutes.

Probably the most enjoyable event I've been to in months; a nice respite from my work/studies Great company, glad to reconnect with old friends; met another animal rights aligned vegan, which is always great

Thanks to everyopne who came to the party - and PARTICULARLY those hearty souls who did the ride. ("Guys! The path is covered in snow and ice here and there's a cliff drop-off on one side. We might want to be careful.") Found: a set of prescription bike goggles at the venue.

I like how the two bald guy's heads almost look like lights in Marko's photo (myself being one of them)

I didn't realize until I looked at the pic that there was a couple "promenading" on the wall behind me.

Topping to point out: At the hall someone left behind some prescription bike googles. Probably a poster from here.

There was a guy from Iron City that doesn't use the forum and I'm pretty sure was wearing glasses

I called IUC bike, I emailed someone from Free Ride and I emailed a couple of other non-forum riders. The invitations had my contact info. I'm guessing I'm not that hard for a biker to find. After all, it's not like it was a crystal dancing slipper where I might be compelled to find the owner.

But Mick, how could you say that? You should wander the bikeways of Pittsburgh to find the one rider that the glasses fit perfectly... Maybe even blog about it.

http://youtu.be/f912EXKZDCI A 49-second version of Mick's party. Not my greatest video (shot w phone), but you get the flavor.

@Ahlir You should wander the bikeways of Pittsburgh to find the one rider that the glasses fit perfectly… Thanks for the suggestion! I did that and found some poor guy wandering blindly along the trail. Maybe he can find his way home now.
