Black mt bike found

Sorry I don't have more details, spotted it just off of Boggs ave. in Mt. Washington. Looks like your average mountain bike you would find at any walmart. Front reflector was mounted on the handlebars.

I'll get more details tomorrow morning & post an update.

Well, the bike was gone by the time I went by this morning...

This raises a question for those of you who have seen potentially stolen bikes ditched somewhere. What do you do when you see one? Do you leave it where it is? Take it in? Lock it up? Bring it to the cops?

I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean when you say you found the bike. Was it on someone's property? Was it in the street? What made you think it was stolen?

I've seen two bikes just lying around in the last year. One at the 2nd Ave-Bates bus stop, unlocked on Saturday night. I saw it twice two hours apart.

The other I saw on the sidewalk on Ophelia Street. I was huslting to get somewhere so I didn't pick it up (riding one bike while pulling another along takes some time). It was reported stolen here a couple of days later.

@chemicaldave It was hoisted up a retaining wall off a set of public stairs. So, they had to drag it up/down at least one set of stairs, haul it over the railing, then up about 4 feet of retaining wall. Really in a weird spot...Well hidden from the street above, but plainly obvious to people walking up the stairs. I thought it may be stolen since no bike owner I've ever met would put their unlocked bike in such a strange place.

Yeah it sounds suspicious. I guess if you had an extra lock with you, you could have locked it with a note, but then the thief (if there was one) would have your contact info. The best thing would be to take the bike to the local police station & leave a note telling the owner to pick it up there, but that’s a lot to ask a Good Samaritan to do.

Jail trail, bridge over Bates, when I walked today at 12:51 this bike was there. Unsecured, Nobody was around. It was still there when I walked back at 13:22.

Someone probably stole it in the dark then realized it was WHITE AND PURPLE!

Hey,Edmonds! Didn't you just say on another thread that you LIKE color? What's wrong with white and purple?

I took a pic of this yesterday and failed to post it. I passed it at 6am and didn't stop. It was still there at 6ish pm when I took the pic and saw that it was cable locked. It was difficult to see the cable at first, but you can also see it in the pic above.

The white bike has been there the last 2 or 3 days. It is locked, and has switched sides of the bridge. Myabe someone is riding down then locking it and walking across 2nd Avenue?

I've went today to JT to walk and clean up a little bit ramps. Sadly enough no more bike and cable has been cut. :(

At about 6 pm this evening this bike (the white one) was lying next to the trail maybe 100 meters east of the jail.

i bought that lock once thinking it would be something light i could carry all the time just in case i forgot my u-lock or something. but, it's worthless - it probably takes less time to pick it than cut it, which is saying a lot because the cable is obviously flimsy. i should have got my 8 bucks back.
