blocking the bike path?

So, riding home tonight ~6:30 on the s. side trail, just east of 18th there were these 3 dudes sitting on the trail, blocking the whole thing. They were obviously kinda camped out there, they had a guitar and some other crap. I shot them a "WTF" glance as i went past in the grass and one of them said something so I turned around.

I (calmly) asked why they felt the need to sit on the trail instead of in the grass or one one of the benches there, to which one of them replied "let's kick his ass". So, things kind of went downhill from there but they were too stoned or just naturally stupid to say anything remotely coherent when I suggested they go sit in the middle of Carson instead. I had a fleeting urge to re-enact the u-lock video but I didn't have one handy so I rode away.

So... ? Not that I was gonna go find a cop and get laughed at, but it got me to wondering, is it even technically illegal to do what they did?

I would say its more stupid then illegal. I seen those turds also around 7ish. One of them was completely passed out of the ground. I had to deal with a group of teenagers myself the other day on the trail. They were coming at me walking 3 or 4 wide and blocking the whole trail. When I tried to get by them they kept side stepping to get in front of me and yelling at me. I picked the side that had a girl at the end and decided to go straight at her and she jumped out of the way real fast and I continued on my way as they all yelled at me. All I can think is WTF. There is plenty of room on the trail for everyone, just step to the side and let people pass.

Once a few years ago, I was on that trail, and there were four identical middle-aged bottle blondes sitting cross-legged in a circle with five identical Corgis on leashes arrayed around them. It was almost art.

hmm, seemed like there was some spill over this afternoon from tailgaters down there too. i just biked around them through the parking lot, trying to dodge vehicles who didn't see me. was trying out my new commute so hopefully i won't have to deal with these people at 7am on a weekday?

there were a ton of people out today that aren't normally out. i had to wait in line through car and pedestrian traffic while going past hoffbrau house. that never happens.

It will be cold again soon. I don't see a ton of other people out there when it's five below.

I got in a great yelling match with a bunch of idiot parents that decided the wet grass would melt their folding chairs. So a group of about 12 of them put them on the paved bike path to watch junior kick the ball around for an hour or so. Seemed terribly offended when I asked them to move their chars off the bike path.

wow thats a new one for me. Its scary that there are a group of 12 adults and not one was smart enough to say to the rest that maybe they should move before someone comes down the trail at a high rate of speed and slams into them. What is even more scary is that all these adults probably drive, and if this mental challenge is too much for them how are they gonna make split second decisions when behind the wheel of a two ton car.
