Brentwood black Acura Integra

I had an incident with a beat-up black Acura Integra this afternoon license GZB-8397 in Brentwood. He stopped short in front of me with no warning and then started the whole F-you bikes, etc. He threatened to beat me up, etc. etc.

Well I got out my blue sharpie that I keep taped to my frame pump and proceeded to write his license on my arm in big two inch letters, all the while calling the guy a drunk (thanks Mick!). Traffic started to back up behind me while I continued to call the guy a drunk and now there started to be witnesses. The guy got nervous and took off down the first cross street we came to. Since the police station is less than a mile from where we were, I just rode on over to the station to make my report. I’m not sure there is much they can do, but they said they would at least run the plate and keep an eye out for the driver.

I hadn’t thought of it before, but I think I like the idea of writing the license on my arm in such big letters. It lets the driver know that I know who he is (assuming it’s not a stolen car), and if I were to be unconscious due to a fall I think the first responders would find this faster than a picture on my cell phone.

Please be careful out there.

this is a great idea. I'm no good at identifying the make/model of a car, so writing the plate number would be an excellent way to identify them...

So far, I've only reported one plate, and I was lucky enough to remember the number by repeating it to myself (it was one of those paper-delivery people who goes around at about 3am, with no regard to traffic laws. this guy was driving into oncoming traffic [had there been any], on a two-way street. A u-turn would have been slightly less illegal/dangerous.)

wow - what a great idea. I'll tape up a sharpie when I get home (I'm not good with the cell phone cameras anyway, usually I just take closeups of my own fingers or pics of my feet. technology, sigh).

The Blue Badge of Courage.

Cool idea. I'll rig up a marker holder of some sort pronto.

Glad you are ok Marko. My girlfriend and I live in Brentwood and she also owns Goodeelicious Sweet Shoppe right on Brownsville rd. across from the high school and near the police station we will keep our eyes open.

Man I rode by the Goodeelicious Sweet Shoppe every day last week when I was house sitting up there. I can't tell you how difficult it was to stop myself from stopping (Since part of the reason im riding is lose weight) still when I make it back that way I be more than happy to set my diet aside and stop in.

Didn't mean to hi-jack your thread Marko, I just wanted to let everyone know of a safe/friendly place to go if you have any trouble AND of course if you want the best chocolate in the burgh(IMO)

@Marko, Hello neighbor!! We live on Kaufman off of Marylea. Stop by her shoppe, let her know where you heard about her it.

@dbacklover, Thanks, stop in. She is open 12 to 8pm Mon.-Fri. and 10-5 on Sat. Her Mom watches the shop during the day until my girl gets off work and gets to the shoppe around 6.

Maybe we should make the shoppe and our home a "safe house" for bikers in our area?

I had a guy in a Honda sedan brush up against my messenger bag while riding on Penn Ave. (and talking on his cell phone, from what I could see as he passed me and I thought "Holy Sh|t he is close to me!"). I memorized the license plate, called 911, waited for the officer to show up, and told him what happened. His response:

1) Why don't you ride on trails.

2) If you can't identify the driver, I can't do anything.

Pittsburgh's finest, indeed!
