Care for Trees on the South Side Riverfront Trail Saturday the 10th!
Join us for Some Tree Care this Saturday!
We planted trees with Friends of the Riverfront a couple years ago, and if you have ridden the trail lately, you know they need some definite extra help in terms of weeding, mulch, and removing some invasives (hello forest of ailanthus where I personally planted birches 
)
FOTR always puts on a great event for volunteers and we like to think we at Tree Pittsburgh do too, so we hope to see you there!
Details:
Saturday Sept 10th, 10am-2pm
Ride your bike and park it at the bike racks at the 4th street end, or park your car in the lot at 4th st.
Tree Pittsburgh is partnering with Friends of the Riverfront to care for trees we planted together 2ish years ago along the South Side Trail from S 4th near the Terminal Buildings St toward the 10th St Bridge.
Lunch will be provided by Friends of the Riverfront. Please RSVP to sallyjoe@treepittsburgh.org if you plan to attend so we can plan accordingly. Hope to see you there!

Sorry, but it's a Pitt homegame. I've been going to the games with the same group of friends since 1982, and every year it gets less and less about the football.

The day will be spent with the fabulous Jake Milofsky as two of us will also be at the Biodiversity Fest (see some seedlings!! plant some seedlings!!) and I will personally be harvesting vegetables a farm in New Bethlehem (to be sold at who cooks for you farm booth at the east lib market on monday).
Busy Saturday, I know!
(Dont worry you will get another chance to do tree work in October during MULCH MADNESS and hopefully plant there in the spring....)

Pierce, we'll be dining on the fabulous gourmet delights of Domino's Pizza! Which will be delici-o-so-good after a morning of Tree Care!
And if I could digress on a personal excitement of mine about this project... The section of trail east of 10th St is RAD as we all know; winding trail through dense tree canopy. w00t!
These new trees from 4th-10th will hopefully one day provide similar canopy, and this is our chance to love on them while they're young! How cool is that?
And yes, we'll be there October 23, as well as in the spring. So stay tuned.

Pierce is well-known around here as a vegan advocate.
So your over-the-top enthusiasm (!) for corporate pizza is misplaced in an answer that seems to mean "No vegan fare."

Well I can't comment on the taste, but I do have reservations about the morality involved with pizza.
I do appreciate the idea of meeting volunteer's nutritional needs with pizza, just not the strategy per se

I was thinking about coming, too. maybe we could work together and feed ourselves, Pierce. I haven't made any pizza in a while-not sure how well pizza travels, though, especially without cheese to hold it together, so maybe something different.

It's a perfect pizza match: I don't eat bread, so I'll eat the cheese and the vegans can eat the crust. Hmm, okay probably not. I'm sure the crust isn't vegan and I wouldn't want to eat a cheese meal anyway.
Caitlin, I'll look out for the event in October. I'm more likely to be available for that one. I would like it if there's a mulch-hauling bicycle. That would be great.

Aye Tabby, most pizza crust has processed sugar, which is usually filtered through bone char. Maybe I can bring you some Daiya

I brought penaut butter and jelly with corn mean buns and some nectarines. No ingredients had any blatent animal products (rejected some bread that had "sodium stearate" as a trace product).
As far as I can tell, no vegans were present.
The trees look ... ... mahhvelous!
