Charge Bikes now available at Love Bikes is Lawrenceville.

Hey folks,

First of all I'd like to thank everyone who came out on our opening day. It was pretty awesome meeting fellow riders in the neighborhood.

As of today we are now carrying Charge Bikes from the UK. A Plug700c is already on it's way in and pre-sold. Check out the line and let me know what you think.

that grinder looks pretty rad. i like how fenders come standard on it, especially in the olive green.

I stopped by and gave him a little business this afternoon. Just a pair of brake shoes, $5 and 5 minutes, but it was great to meet the guy and at least know where it is.

Just to review, it's on the alley just up the hill from Butler & 44th.

Nic has worked on my bike before (at his old job). He was great to deal with.

first: sweet bikes

second: why did you choose these, instead of something made a little more locally

third: do you carry any other brands in the shop?

mark, what would you consider more local? just curious since there aren't really any us brands anymore...

mark, im betting the relative ease of setting up a bti account and the fact that charge has a pretty comprehensive line of commuter and urban focused bikes perfect for selling to l-ville kids were big factors. also, pretty much anything us made is going to be a boutique frame with a price to match. not something you can sell enough of to keep afloat by itself.

Just an aside, somebody needs to sell some friggin' cargo bikes around here, I mean really do some selling to businesses. For some of the funky hipster shops that are coming up in L'ville, to run deliveries into downtown, No'side, and the strip dist by cargo, that would be the sht.

Steve K,

There was a great article on a news website

that talked about eating locally...

"northfield indiana residents are the

luckiest as the Kraft foods world

headquarters is located there..."

Thick doesn't do custom bikes anymore. personal work only. too many liability issues.

I know chris isn't making anything right but we all know he could. No comment on the sketch.

Last I heard Anthony Mezzatesta was still in the business: http://www.mezzatestacustomcycles.com/id2.html

i figured you knew ted, i just wanted to make sure folks in general were aware. something about thick being a custom frame shop for over a decade seems to confuse people :D

everything is made in taiwan almost (exceptions noted above... i was thinking of bowery lane as a possibility except they aren't really in the same ballpark) but if you're going to go with a taiwan bike why not pick IRO, or something along those lines.

looking back at the way i wrote the question i didn't really word it that well, i was just curious about what made them pick the company, and if they looked at alternatives, or if they carried anything else.

The link shows that Worksman builds a replica boneshaker, and the prices are reasonable. I didn't know that, that is awesome to know. One of these days, there will be a boneshaker on the roads of the 'burgh. Or another, I suppose, since I hear Mr. Thick already has one.
