Classic Bike Cruise

Got home from the Montour out on the South Side. There was a Classic Car Cruise over at Al's Cafe and that got me thinking . . .

Has anyone ever done a Classic Bike Cruise? How many of us still have usable bikes from the 1980's, 1970's and earlier that we still ride? It'd be kinda neat to put a cruise together.

I agree. I have several old/faux old dogs that need to be run out. There used to be some people trying to put such a thing together, Rat Rod Bikes or some such? I'll look it up. Also was a guy on the board, Race Doug, or something, maybe? You out there?

Usable? All my bikes are that old and will be ridden long after I am dead. I think a classic bike cruise would be a GREAT idea! Lots of fun. I think it should be in front of a cool bar that caters to cyclists or maybe Taza in Highland Park. Somewhere they are cool to cyclists. I work all hours and have no set schedule at work, as well as not knowing my schedule more than a week out. I would go if I knew where it was and I was off work. Great idea!

I am extremely glad that all of my bikes have bars with a 31.8 bar clamp, threadless steerers, rims with machined brake trakes or discs, and 2 piece cranksets.

This ride would sketch me out.

Given that the average age of my bikes is about 30, I'd be in for this.

So there was this from 2 summers ago,

I don't think anything much happened after that. It would be a good bikefest event. What we have now that we didn't have then is Bicycle Heaven, it would be cool to have a ride starting/ending out of there.

I'm likin' the response here! Bicycle Haven would be a great start. I've been lookin' for an excuse to go visit it.

Hey guys. Yes we have Rat Rod/classic bike rides. We try to have one about once a month. The last ride we had we rode the trail from Milville to Bicycle Heaven. I will post more tonight after work.

Bike cruise or bike park?

Cruise, for sure. If you don't ride it, it's not a bike.

Never been to Bikehaven, so that would be great for me as well. Sounds like fun.

Hi guys, we have not had a ride for a bit, its just been hard to get a time when everyone's schedule has worked out, we all know how that is. I will hit up the rest of the Rat Rod guys and see if we can set something up for bike fest. In the meantime here is a link to the thread on our last ride with pics.

Edmonds59, I've been doing good, thanks. I've been super busy but always take the time to at least lurk the boards...lol.

All this talk of new bikes elsewhere, I got a new bike too! Picked up a 1966 Robin Hood 3 speed. Turned it into a "path racer" type setup. I decided I needed a path racer. Rides nicely. Some cream colored tyres and it will be ballin.

I guess my idea of new is like, 46 years old.

@edmoonds, nice ride! At this pace you should be in the ‘70s in no time.

(+1 gummies – but ditch the Schrader tubes)

Thx. Actually I think I'm gradually working my way back to the 1800's, but I'm not sure how I would transport a 52" high wheeler.

With a horse, of course.
