Hey, I just posted a proposal for re-wording Rule3 at the link that RedDan provided, if you're down with that please consider adding a comment.

I plan to participate. So many weekends go by that I not only don't ride, I rarely get out of the house.

This is today! Let's get Pittsburgh represented in a big way!

Got our first official ride in today, with a combined trip to get some groceries at the food coop. Fall arrived in a pretty major way today!

I didn't touch a bicycle today, but did scope out some coffee destinations to the west. For all the riding I do, I don't get around that much, so want to head off to the west, Bellevue and Brighton Heights, maybe even over the McKees Rocks Bridge into Stowe and nearby. McKees Rocks, for all the residents it has, has remarkably few restaurants or coffee shops, so my destination is likely going to be a pizza joint that serves coffee, too. I'm also looking at these weekend trips as scouting for 2015's Critical Mass rides.

Actually Stu if you go to the little biz district in Stowe on Broadway there's Lynn's cafe that gets a large breakfast crowd, and a new place called Marge's, don't know too much about. Less far out, Tartine in West End. Mmm.

That's exactly where I was looking. West End is actually quite a bit more distant for me, and has the well coffeeed North Side business districts to get past first. And now that it's 10 a.m., I need to get off my butt and actually go someplace. Enough internetting.

It took six more hours, but I finally got on the road. Given the late start, I only got to West View, but there's the proof. The tweet

Mary Ann's on Route 51 just south of the Fleming Bridge (from Neville Island) is a good breakfast spot. Anchor and Anvil on Church Street in Ben Avon, and a mile further out, in Emsworth is a little breakfast place. And for those seeking inspiration on locations, there is also this summary of locations celebrating "Specialty Coffee Week" later this month. Pittsburgh Specialty Coffee Week Kudos to you Pittsburgh, Pa., which this Oct. 13-19 will join the remarkably small group of U.S. cities to try its hand at a “Specialty Coffee Week.” Here’s more from the hosts, including some of the cities most quality-focused roasteries and cafes: Pittsburgh Specialty Coffee Week is a chance for coffee connoisseurs and novices to come together for a week of fun and informative events. Coffee professionals will have a space in which to share skills and information, leading to an increased excitement and care for the work of specialty coffee. Coffee patrons can develop their knowledge of roasting and brewing practices, while discovering the unique styles and flavors that each shop has to offer. In a nutshell, it’s “beer week” or “restaurant week” for coffee: A city-wide collaboration among some of the industries top purveyors to help shine a light on what’s going on in coffee. In the process, they may hit some less experienced drinkers over the head with espressos or black coffees that might inspire loyalty or, better yet, change their drinking lives forever. Despite the obvious upsides, we’ve seen a few attempts at these kind of events in recent history. (See Kansas City in 2012, and Sacramento this year.) The question of “why” may be better suited for another post; but for now, hats off to you, Pittsburgh, and your outward-facing industry collaboration. Pittsburgh Specialty Coffee Week is already getting some support from others in the coffee industry, including Hario, Baratza and Able, which have all donated some sweet raffle gifts. Here is some more of what’s going down this year in Steel City, with more events and host roasteries/retailers likely to follow: Oct. 13: Espresso tasting at Commonplace Coffee Roastery Oct. 14: 21st St. Coffee Presents TBA Oct. 15: Coffee Cocktails at Constellation Coffee Oct. 16: Latte Art Throwdown at Commonplace Voluto Oct. 17: Food and coffee pairings at Marty’s Market Oct. 18: A Film About Coffee with Espresso a Mano Oct. 19: Brunch at Orbis Caffe A map is available at http://dailycoffeenews.com/2014/09/29/pittsburgh-has-a-really-fun-specialty-coffee-week-lined-up-do-you/

How do you get "Quote" to work on a Mac?? "Wow, that’s some strong coffee, Stu." How the heck do you get it down from the ceiling to *drink* it?? Also, was that a "late" start or a "laté" start?? ...

Doctor Neil: It's not just Macs, the Quote button is just plain old broken. EDIT: *JINX @jonawebb* "Oct. 17: Food and coffee pairings at Marty’s Market" I drink a beverage of my choosing with whatever I want. Burger and coffee? Sure. Wine and eggs? Yep. Whiskey and popcorn? Hell yeah.

Quote doesn't work anymore. It is a vestigial website feature.

Kind of like that useless piece of flesh on the end of ...? (the punch line is "a man")

To quote, I just highlight/copy/paste the relevant text, and manually add lessthansign EM greaterthansign ahead of it, and lessthansign slash EM greaterthansign after it. I meant "late" not latté. I'd wanted to be on the road by 9 or 10, but it was after 3 by the time I finally did. Inverted images are beyond my control. Usually if you click on the picture, the EXIF info gets processed properly and it shows up correctly. Very browser dependent.

So you basically just write html? I can deal with that. I still think it has to be messy with the latté with the image spinning around like that. Total non sequitur -- people interested in air pollution could come by Bar Marco Union Hall tonight from 6-8.

I've completed my 7 coffeeneur stops for 2014. How's everybody else doing?

We are on track. I am going out of town next weekend and am planning on bringing a bike with me so I can coffeeneur in another city. My dad thinks I am bonkers (we will be traveling together) but I also think he is bonkers so we are even. Planning on a late night ride with Q tonight to pick up this weekend's beverage. I love this time of year!

I gave up after one week. It is just too difficult for me to get out on the weekends. Going back through my riding history, I've hardly been on a bike on a Saturday since the snow melted, and only on a Sunday to help with a ride.

The kids and I are behind, but not out of the running. We just did number four today.

DOPE! I work with a bunch of fellow coffee snobs and their Tanzania Kiboko is one of the favorites here. We've been ordering deliveries somewhat regularly.
