Construction in front of the Convention Center

Yesterday on the way home from the Pirates opening day, I noticed from the north shore trail that construction is being done between the allegheny and the Convention Center. Basically it looked like they were finally digging out the slope there to make it trail accessible? awesome!

Thats what it looks like to me too, I think its part of the project to finish the trail from the point up through the strip.

They are adding to the trail and adding boat docks I believe.

The $8.5 million convention center project will fill a missing link in the riverfront trail from the Strip District to Point State Park. It will extend from the Rachel Carson Bridge at Ninth Street to the old Fort Wayne railroad bridge.


Plans call for a cantilevered riverwalk, landscaped slope and a boat landing. It will be accessible from the water feature that runs beneath the convention center at 10th Street.
