Cycling shorts for women

Hey ladies, I know there was a topic a while ago about he Levi's commuter pants, but it appears that they are still only available for men. I imagine that they would not properly fit me correctly, as i do have hips and a butt. Any suggestions for websites that sell shorts or knickers that don't necessarily have a chamois built in, but that are durable and comfortable and don't have any horrible seams that would cause irritation while commuting? I have a pair of jean shorts from target that are ok, but I am looking for more.

I tried on those Levi's commuter pants once. They weren't as terrible of a fit as I expected, but they still were cut really straight so that what fit my hips was really big on my waist, and I couldn't justify spending so much money for something that didn't really fit correctly.

Betabrand is working on a women's version of their Bike to Work pants, but it's apparently taking forever. IDK when they'll finally be available.

These look awesome, but the price... ouch.

So in summary, I don't know. I just look for denim with some spandex. More lightweight fabric tends to be more comfortable than heavier denim since the seams aren't as bulky and it usually stretches better, but then there are durability issues.

Leggings or compression shorts under skirts/dresses = by far the most comfortable option for commuting, in my opinion

Edit: I guess you said shorts/knickers, not pants, so that probably wasn't helpful. As far as shorts and capri-ish things go, there are some companies (Lole is one that comes to mind, and their stuff is often sold cheaply on 6pm.com) that make "activewear"-type shorts that look normal but that might be comfortable for riding, but I've only looked at that stuff and still haven't bought any of it, so I can't say for sure.

I've gotten golf clothes at Dicks before that are comfortable. They can be kind of nerdy but they usually stretch and sometimes have sun protection. Plaid goes with all punk t-shirts.

I don't play golf at all.

i second the need for more decent looking bike pants. spent a lot of time last winter searching desperately for something akin to the Levi's commuter pants or all the crazy expensive fancy boy pants. i also second the use of leggings with skirts.

my alter-ego when riding in the summer is Butt-sweat Betty.

I guess I was also inquiring about long pants, but worded the question poorly. I should have asked for any women's cycling bottoms.

Regular bottoms or power bottoms?

Club Ride makes some really good stuff for men and women.

They often come with liners that are not attached so you can go with or without. They are not cheap, but I find myself wearing these shorts all the time, on the bike or off.

Speak of the devil...

Betabrand's women's Bike to Work Pants are available in black and grey starting today. They're not offering much of a size range right now, but apparently more sizes are coming.
