Double top-tube bottle cage?

I took a friend of mine down to Thick the other day to get her on a bike, and she went for the Fuji Absolute 3.0 - a womens hybrid. The toptube is actually two smaller tubes side-by-side (cant find a pic) and I'm wondering if there is a cage somewhere made for this design or if zip ties and giant-clamp plastic cages (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NGD56G/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER) are the only option.

So.. are you trying to put it on the toptube? or the down tube(big fat one)

Top tube. My brain remembered the positon of the tube forgetting the geometry of the bike, haha.

Yeah, the top tube, couldnt find a photo of what it looks like from above.

I have an old Fuji mixte with the double top-tube design you describe, and a water bottle cage fits on the down tube under the double top tubes, it's quite secure. If you mount it on top of the double top tubes it seems like it kind of defeats the purpose of the mixte design.

Seems like you could put it on the seat tube.

I love mixtes.

fuji claims it has mounts for 2 bottle holders.. I could tell from any of the pictures where exactly they are tho

The Twofish bottle cage straps on to almost anywhere. You could fasten it to one tube at an angle, so the bottle is centered between the two tubes.

I've got one floating around somewhere, if you want to borrow it to test for fit.

Seat tube is a good call. I'm surprised they don't provide for any mount points, though.

edmonds, why do you love mixtes?

Well, it's likely there aren't braze-ons on the seat tube because the bolts would limit how deeply a seat post could be inserted into the frame.

You could DIY, though this one looks a like it may be borderline over-engineered for just water (the author describes using it for a heavy battery).

It appears to be insulated conduit P-clamps and an Al plate?

Seems like someone should have invented the commercial variant of this by now. Maybe that is what the twofish one is. Does velcro really hold it still over all the bumps and potholes? :)

Also, on a slightly related tangent, I found this site while searching. I think I need to find more room in my bike accessories budget.

@dwillen: The Twofish mount doesn't move much at all, unless you grab it and yank or hit it with your knee or something. Plenty o' friction keeps it stable. That said, I've usually mounted it upright, and suspect that putting a 24-oz bottle out horizontally might result in some rotation eventually.

@nick: the Minoura mount is great for all sorts of other things too; just pull off the bottle cage bracket, and you can mount all sorts of other accessories using it. I use 'em with the top half of a Mirrycle mirror for a wide-angle mirror that mounts nice and close on a flat bar, like on the green 'bent.

@Lyle, good ones are light and stiff like any good road bike, quick, responsive. Good for kicking around town with the low stepover, nothing to threaten the tender bits. The one I have is just a kick to ride. Plus I dig the look, those 2 pencil thin tubes 5 feet long.

Oh, plus there's always Meli from the blog "Bikes and the City". :)
