extend the North Shore trail

Just wondering, now that they finally finished refurbishing the old Millvale section of the North Shore trail, any plans extending it out to Etna/Sharpsburg area and beyond??? I and many other cyclists live north and east of Millvale and the city of Pittsburgh. It's just as important and a priority for us to get the trail out to the Etna, Aspinwall, and Verona area, as to getting the trail through Sandcastle.

Feasibility Study is underway to assess trail development opportunities to Etna and well beyond (to Freeport at Allegheny County line).

Community Trails Initiative

The Community Trails Initiative is a public/private multi-municipal project to complete a trail feasibility study encompassing 17 municipalities (City of Pittsburgh, Millvale, Shaler, Etna, Sharpsburg, Aspinwall, Fox Chapel, O’Hara Township, Blawnox, Harmar, Cheswick, Springdale, Springdale Township, Frazer, Tarentum, Brackenridge and Harrison) along the North Shore of the Allegheny River for the purpose of connecting the existing Three Rivers Heritage Trail with the Armstrong Trail. This connection is an important part of the Allegheny County Riverfronts Project, the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail Alliance and also the Pittsburgh to Harrisburg Mainline Canal Greenway

But I wouldn't hold your breath...it takes a while for stuff to happen.
