FLIZ

Well, my girlfriend just alerted me to the existence of this thing and all I have to say is... um, that's weird...

On a more serious side, I have no idea how this fits into any transportation system. It's either a really slow bike or a really fast pedestrian. I'm not sure I'd like to be stuck in that posture for long rides. And I certainly don't think I'd want to take it anywhere near a hill.

designers designing just to design with no problem to solve...

product development as masturbation. sigh.

I don't like it. On a bike if I am going down I can unclip my feet and jump on them. Or I can jump of bike completely. If I use FLIZ then I don't have a choice but go down with it.

+1 cb, nailed it.

if it had some rear footrests / pegs it might be fun to scoot around on with some friends for a while, maybe some downhill activities or the like.

But as a practical application of a transportational solution i find it not only lacking, but obtusely futile.

Frankly it strikes me as student industrial design work. I certainly hope their professors pointed all these problems out to them.

EDIT: And it's up for the "James Dyson Award" which is for student designers, so yeah.

My back, neck and crotch hurt just from watching that video.

That is an unbelievably stupid idea.

Someone get me one of those things, and I'll give it a real test: Round trip, McCandless to Downtown and back, twice: Once via my stream jump, trail, Babcock, and river trail; once via Perry, hike up 53 steps in West View, then Perrysville, and Federal, both down and up.

I also want to see what it's like in rotten weather, perhaps even slush or snow.
