Frick Park Alert
I just got this on my FB page from PTAG. I assume it is real, but have not verified that with anyone other than PTAG.
.....Got a call from the Pgh. Parks Conservancy to advise folks using the trails in Frick Park to be aware of a hatchet-wielding homeless person who attacked a mountain biker on the Iron G(r)ate Trail. The police have been notified. Please be careful!
The message referred to the Iron Grate Trail. I know only the Iron Gate Trail, which runs east from Blue Slide Park between the run and the southern park boundary. It meets the Nine Mile Run Trail somewhere near the ecological restoration area.
If you are running or biking in Frick in the next few days, stay alert !

Checking MTB trail maps, Iron Grate Trail starts at the end of English Lane, just south of Blue Slide Park, and heads downhill (and east) generally parallel to Forward. It then passes the Irish Center and ends at that weird semi-parking area on Forbes, sort of under the high overpass. ( I think that makes sense to people who know the park!)

In the first post what is meant by "attacked" - was this wielding a hatchet at cyclist in a menacing manner from a distance, or were near swipes taken?
