Glow-y goodness

Bike Glow

It's no Down Low Glow, but $25 for AA-powered electroluminescent wire you can wrap around whatever you wish looks pretty sweet.

Both look pretty cool. But I'm starting to add up the weight and all-the-having-to-replace-themness of all these AA- and AAA-cell systems I'm carrying around with me. That, more than whatever price, is telling me "not yet" on this.

I need to get this and a lift kit for my scraper bike.

No way is it "magic cycling protection from cars", but I just KNOW it's a chick magnet.

Great theme for a BikeFest ride next year. Much needed alternative to the ubiquity of fireworks.

I wonder how many riders it would take to make a decent spectacle?

I've seen people with blinking LED Christmas necklaces and New Years chochtkes, little junk like that would be just as effective. I would definitely be up for some kind of "light-up ride". Spring solstice, maybe? And, preemptively, no drug references, please, he-he.

doh! Spring equinox, I meant. Too many light up rides in my youth.

If you want this on the cheap and you're handy with a soldering iron: its just EL wire.
