Go Fast, Get There First! Part 2! (An alleycat ...)

Yo!

"Go Fast, Get There First!"! An alleycat!

This will happen during Bike Fest! Most likely after the movie at Mellon Park. Get ready! Details are forthcoming quickly! Stay tuned to this thread!

I'm no meteorologist, but I bet it will be warmer this time around.

Sick!

Okay, more details:

This is Wednesday, August 11.

We will roll from Mellon Park immediately following the Bike Fest movie, "The Great Muppet Caper."

This will be $5 or less.

This will be fun.

More to follow ...

10-15 landmarks go into a hat, winner chooses the next one at random.

Fliers soon.

This will be cheap and fun. Beer and pizza in the aftermath!

Yo, details are ironed-out. Fliers will be done tomorrow and hung/handed out at the party. I hope some people will come to this!

GO FAST, GET THERE FIRST!

"A sprinter's alleycat"!

We did this in January 2008; it was fun.

This time it should be warmer.

How it works: 15 checkpoints go in a hat. We sprint to a checkpoint, regroup, and the winner picks the next checkpoint to sprint to. $1 a checkpoint, winner takes all. We'll do as many sprints as people feel like doing. There will be "wild card" checkpoints -- take that as you will. There will be a pizza and beer/root beer hangout in the aftermath.

WHEN: Wednesday, August 11. We will meet at the corner of 5th and Shady Ave., outside the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts at 10:30 or immediately following the bike-in movie "The Great Muppet Caper." We'll leave at 11 and probably neutrally ride as a group to Oakland for the first sprint. Race for as long as you want!

Come out and have fun! I know this is late on a weeknight, but it's summer! Have fun! It's BikeFest! Sweet!

will there be girls/fixie/under 12 divisions?

Yes, there is a women's category ... if there is more than one woman. In fact, like the spring Alliquippa crit. series when the women race with the Cat. 4/5 men, the lady winner of each sprint will earn an extra $1 for each male she beats. Is that a good incentive?

Riding a fixie may get you scene points, but, no, you won't get your own category.

Those 12 years old and under can get a 30-second head start.
