Can someone tell me where the racks are located at in the Grant Street Transportation Center, aka the parking lot next to the greyhound station? Are there any other places in that general area to lock up that's marginally safe?

There are racks going in at the corner of 11th and Penn under an eave of the Grant Street Transportation Center. I haven't ridden past this week, so they could already be there by now.
There is a rack diagonally across from there at the Convention Center.
If you are thinking of overnight parking then I would be careful about what kind of bike to leave there.

Also, please use a u-lock at minimum. Even the thickest cable locks can be cut quite quickly as evidenced in the "stolen bikes" thread.

Next time you're over that way, swing by the Amtrak station. I think I recall seeing one there, but I'm not sure.

No great overnight parking anywhere. The closest garage that I am aware of is the Ninth and Penn facility. Bike racks are located on the Penn Avenue side, just off the sidewalk, but inside the garage. It would probably be safe for a couple of days, but I would recommend stripping it of anything valuable (lights, computers, bags, etc) and double locking it. Sounds like overkill, but not really all that different in concept from what people might do in a car, removing valuables from sight, locking the car, and maybe using a club or other immobilization device to discourage a potential thief or vandal.

Yes, there is one by the Amtrak station. It's on the lower level, all the way to the end of the sidewalk, past the entrance doors. Notice that there is a security camera above the rack, for whatever that's worth.
