Minimal tool set you can just roll up to and use w/o cost , even if they're just chained to a bike rack somewhere:

* Adjustable wrench
* A couple of screwdrivers

Help make this Map Better
Awhile back we started a Map showing things like Bike Racks, Water fountains, porta-potties and the like.
This morning I was adding some of the Bike racks I have seen around that I knew were not on the map, and I began to think about what else could be on the map.
Bike Shops
Bike friendly shops (bars, restaurants and the like)
I added several Bike shops as well as the bike friendly places I knew but I don't know that many. I would love for all you guys to add your favorite places as well. The map should be open to editing (if I did it right)
I really look forward to trying out some of the places you guys add as I'm sure everyone is interested in finding new places to explore.
I was going to try and define what "Bike Friendly" means to me but I just thought if you guys have a favorite place you like to go then it is bike friendly.

I added some bike racks and the new fixit station at Whole Foods. I’ll putter around more with this another day.

The tools question makes me wonder: I have a toolset on my bike and am happy to lend it out to anyone nearby who’s broken down during the day. Not sure the best way to advertise that without sticking a phone number there…

I think if you see a cyclist pulled over with a mechanical issue, you could always ask if they need a tool or help. However, for your own and the other cyclists' safety and personal comfort, stay a bike length's away while making the inquiry, so you can both get a feeling for the situation. (this is coming from a female cyclist).
Other than that...it could be cool if we had some kind of bike-friendly hobo sign to put on our bikes or porches as a signal for willingness to lend tools in a pinch.

Good ideas all, but I was more thinking of the stationary fix-it station. The employee bike rack in Ansaldo's parking garage is more what I was thinking of. I don't know who would care to put forth the $15 for a foot pump to chain to a bike rack, plus a couple of screwdrivers and a wrench, but just knowing there's a spot I can roll up to for a two-minute fix -- and knowing where it is -- would make cycling in town so much more attractive. At least that's what I take this to mean.

I imported them via KML, with a little editing to make the icons match. (I made a new red-bike icon 
for covered racks, so as not to lose that detail.)
I deleted some obvious duplicates, but there were surprisingly few.
