It's not been my week, ha

So I hadn't ridden since saturday. Saturday and sunday after work, I was in ohio, and ate nothing but junk food. Got the flu. Called off work for the first time in 3 1/2 years. I feel like I've eaten nothing but cough drops and nyquil all week. Wake up at all hours coughing. Didn't ride to work because I felt too weak.

Then today I got lost, as usual. I was on my way to free ride, where I'd never been before (Someone there said they'd help me with my brakes), and on the way there, I felt like I hadn't ridden in years. I'm sure my leaky tube didn't help - low tires are the worst.

Brakes are now functional and I got a new tube, so that's good, at least!

On my way to class, I got lost, found an inbound bus stop, and two buses with no rack went by. I texted a classmate when class started saying I was lost and would be in soon, but he said class was going to be cut short and I shouldn't bother.

At least I have my laptop now, so I can google some directions home (I'm pretty sure I'm in squirrel hill). I would be so lost without technology. Literally.

I guess if I have to apply a moral to this, it's ride through the pain, don't forget your towel, technology=good, etc.

Carry a bike map with you.

RF - Traditional Medicinals Herbal Teas, Herbal Tussin, and Breathe Right might help some. Herbal Tussin feels like a soothing hug on sore throats, both are fantastic for coughs, don't taste chemical-y or have the nasty side effects that I find nyquil or theraflu have. Last time I had the flu, the meds were the worst part of being sick. Yuck!

Perhaps that today is Friday can be some small consolation? And no matter how rough your week, remember tomorrow is another day, and lots of good things could happen!

*HUGS* (and what rsprake said! they should have them at bike shops/ EEFC/other places... maybe libraries? your very own free copy).

yeah, at least my brakes work now! Something to look forward to.

also, I left my bike map on my kitchen table. I always seem to forget that I have it. I usually even have to google directions to dippy, and even then I still get lost.

Anyway, I got some directions, and I'm gonna try to use them now.

also, in a biology or chemistry class I learned about different pathways... it's now fuzzy in my head, but basically any kind of sugary or simple carbohydrate will lessen your immune system's ability to ward off disease, so the junk food could be related to your flu. Complex carbs actually have the same effect, but it's not as bad.

I'm totally sure someone else on here knows more about that than me, though, so maybe someone else can make more sense about it.

Hope you feel better soon!

Yeah, yesterday was like that for me. 6-9 mph up Forbes ave. I thought my brake was dragging, but it wasn't.

Made it home relatively dry, and as much as I wanted to, I didn't wimp out and grab a bus.

also, I don't know why the rain made me notice this today, but bloomfield is freaking adorable.

if you get lost in the city its easy. go downhill. eventually you will wind up downtown or on a river.

or in a river

Fixed that for you. Flood warnings and all that...

Today I was riding to a training in Bloomfield, which I'm not very familiar with, and I'm pretty sure my sheet of very meticulous directions and Google Maps clips departed my pocket of its own free will for greener pastures somewhere on Boundary Street. Luckily, I never leave home without a maps (usually the BIkePGH map) regardless of mode of transportation, and I got there eventually.
