I walked over the Smithfield Street bridge the other day and this looked really nice from above. It's sad that it stops dead at the bridge end, but I believe there are plans in the works to build a ramp up to join the jail trail eventually.
I agree with Jeff.It's sad and laughable at the same time, there's a ribbon cutting celebration when the project isn't yet complete?? It's one of those scratch your head moments.Makes more sense to have the ribbon cutting when the ramp from the Smithfield bridge to the Mon Warf is finished.
Yeah, I have seen it from the bridge too. Even it it 1/4 mile of tail, I am happy to see anything new.
Ribbon cuttings are photo ops for political types. If it means more support for cycling infrastructure, I am perfectly happy to let 'em have some extra media attention, even if there's still work to be done.
"The perfect is the enemy of the good", ya know? Progress, even if not as fast as we'd like, is still worth recognizing.

I remember the first time I biked the Jail trail trying to get to the point. You get so close and then the trail just stops, and it's totally not obvious which combination of downtown streets takes you there safely.
This looks like it will be a great addition.
