my brother's bike was stolen downtown
here is what he posted to facebook:
"..cut my lock and stole my bike in downtown Pittsburgh right from underneath a camera on a bike rack outside of Verizon where I work. Its a blue and silver Schwinn mountain bike with road tires, fenders on the front and back, and a Topak bag under the seat. It also has a tire pump on it and 2 yellow Steeler reflectors. If anyone happens to see it please report it."
i realize that whoever did this will likely immediately strip it/repaint it but it's worth a shot...

I've actually seen bikes parked in that Verizon rack and thought they'd be pretty safe due to the high foot traffic through that alley (by Weiner World) and the number of Verizon smokers who loiter in that area during smoke breaks.
Sorry to hear of the loss of the bike. I'll keep an eye out.
Any chance the afrementioned security cameras caught anything useful?

Report the bike stolen to the police and have them contact the building security. I've dealt with PNC and they wouldn't release or even look at their own security tapes without the police calling them. I would expect Verizon to be the same.
