My friend left his bike on the front of a bus

We've talked about it so much on here as a hypothetical situation, and now i can officially say that i know someone who did this. haha. he got it back, but had to go to a garage on rt 19 to get it. just a public service announcement.

ha! i knew someone was going to say that. I was fortunate enough to be there when he realized it. It was several minutes after he left the bus

I know a girl whose bike was stolen from the front of a bus.

yeah, a coworker of mine. she got on the bus, and sat in the back. Her best guess was that one of the other passengers saw her sit in the back and figured she wasn't paying attention to the bike. Luckily, it wasn't an expensive bike, or her only bike. I always stay near the front of the bus when I can, to keep an eye on my bike.

It might be worth rigging up a test to see if PAT can help track down a situation like this. Get two friends and one bike. Person 1 mounts the bike. Person 2 gets off first and tries to take the bike. S/He either succeeds or does not. If so, we then try to pursue things with PAT to see if they can track down some info. If not, we explain the bluff.

Well, test or not, I'm going to start at least locking my wheel to ensure the bike is not easily rideable when I put it on the bus, as was suggested someplace else.

luckily the most valuable thing I've ever lost on a bus is a $22 bike headlight (it was a great headlight though, incredibly durable and bright, grumble grumble)

Don't the buses have forward-facing cameras? Should make it pretty easy to ID the culprit, although getting someone to care might be tougher... e - too bad your "friend" couldn't just wait for the same bus to come back around :)
