North Park trail work along Ingomar Road planned

http://triblive.com/neighborhoods/yournorthhills/yournorthhillsmore/5237328-74/road-trail-bike Saw this in the paper version of the weekly newspaper. Ingomar Road through North Park will be closed for a month or so next year to widen the walking/biking trail. Shout-out to @screbner, who's quoted in the article.

Thanks, Stu. When the construction phase is complete, we'll have a 5' bike lane plus a 7' to 9' pedestrian lane along Ingomar Road between Babcock and Kummer. It will be far more safer than what exists there now. Kudos to Rich Fitzgerald and Andy Bachle for getting the necessary funding in place, courtesy of the recent transportation bill passed by the PA legislature.

Based on the Dec 10 meeting presentation: Stu...The lake side shoulder (AKA Shared-Use-Path) of Ingomar Rd between Kummer Rd and Babcock Blvd will be closed 24/7 for the duration of the construction work which is estimated to take two months. The Ingomar Rd travel lanes within these limits will have some overnight closures with a signed detour. The number of night time closures was not mentioned at the meeting. screbner...Within the 5' width of the bike lane there will be a 1' width of rumble strips and short gaps without rumble strips. So, essentially it will be a 4' bike lane. The length w/o rumble strips and the distance between the gaps was not given at the meeting. Based on the presentation, the intent of the rumble strip gaps is to allow faster bicyclists to "slalom" between the bike lane and the adjacent vehicle lane as needed to pass slower bicyclists.
