NYC Bike/Ped Initiatives

NYC is making some awesome progress on improving the streets for cyclists and pedestrians. I saw these two on Twitter this morning and thought they were worth passing along.

11 min interview with Janette Sadik-Khan, New York City's Commissioner of the Department of Transportation:

(Note, she was able to accomplish most of this in a year and a half...)

Article from NY Magazine on the work being done: http://nymag.com/news/articles/reasonstoloveny/2008/52954/

Seeing some of this makes me want to throw my bike in the back of my truck the next time I'm headed to NYC so I can check it out.

ahh to be from a city with money.

what's happening there is really impressive.

what's sad is that, like humans, cities are also subject to quality of life improvements based on wealth.
