PA Bike Route S

Has anyone had any experience with PA Bike Route S? I'm planning on taking it to just past Chambersburg and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or comments on the matter.

You should have no trouble following it. It is really well marked the entire way. The only problems I have had are following it through Lancaster. There are signs I believe it is 200 feet before any turn, then a sign at the turn pointing you in the right direction, and then a confirmation sign 100 - 200 feet after you make a turn.

The Route S maps you can get on the state's web site (i forgot the URL because I have the PDF on my computer) are very good.

Awesome, I always notice those signs when driving certain parts of 30. Thanks for the reassurance.

This past summer I rode around the Netherlands and I can't tell you how many times I would just lose a route cold because there would be no confirmation after a turn. It would just be an arrow and you might have to ride a few km's before you saw another sign. This was especially bad in small towns.

Did you pass through the abandoned turnpike? I hear thats pretty crazy.

The abandoned turnpike is pretty cool. I even took my daughter there to ride through it and she thought it was fun. That time we spent some time climbing around the tunnel facilities and checking things out a little bit.

Take a bright light though because you can't see your hand in front of your face. A regular LED light doesn't do too much but is better than nothing. There could be chunks of concrete or other things in the way you won't see until its too late otherwise.
