A man was found dead on a walking trail under the Panther Hollow Bridge in Oakland this morning, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office said.
The body was discovered by a man walking his dog at around 4:20 a.m. The medical examiner's office said there were no signs of foul play, but the death was ruled suspicious.
The medical examiner's had identified the man, but is not releasing his name pending notification of family.
Pittsburgh police homicide detectives and the medical examiner's office is investigating. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Oh man, I don't ever want to be the finder of a dead body, that would suck.
On a related note, I would give away a dog that needed walking at 4:20 am.
Someone I went to high school with but didn't know very well has been missing since he went to a concert at Stage AE last Tuesday. I'm nervous this might be him. I have no information that it would be, but it makes you wonder if it is.
@edmonds59 sir, those two sentences just made my day a whole lot better!
oh, i've seen flyers around about that missing person.
Hrm....
Some peeps we were talking about this and it might be instead a Pitt or CMU student. Jumping off the PH bridge ain't that hard, plus they are taking finals right now.... I've heard of cases like this in the past.
Totally unrelated, but I was messing around w/ the police scanner app on my phone and was listening to them trying to find two men in a home invasion armed robbery in Oakland that stole a bunch of electronics. They tracked them into Panther Hollow and surrounded the area, but I'm assuming they were never found, because it never made it to any news sites.
I was running in Schenley/Panther Hollow this morning around 5 am, and came across this investigation. I stopped and asked if I could pass and the police let me run through. Then I saw the "Medical Examiner" van driving down the trail and figured something was up. Once I got out of the park I finished my run somewhere else.
i remember back in 2003 or 2004 there was a body found in that playground in panther hollow. it was apparently dumped there after a drug-related murder. i always think of that as i ride past that playground.
We got a name.....
