How 'bout next to my trike?
Pictures of you as a kid on your bike
so, i'm at home and found this gem of a pic of me on my first bike.
i'm guessing many of yinz are at your parents house, so if you find your pic, post it!
@ Pseudacris what year car is that behind you? You still look exactly the same
i still have my first bike i rode it lat month its a 65 western flyer 3 speed the internal gears dont seem to work right i have to leave it in first or it tends to freewheel i was wondering how hard it would be to convert to a single speed it has coaster brakes
Bear, don't do it, 3 spd's are awesome! Probably just sticking pawls, they almost never actually break.
PROBLY SHOULD TAKE IT TO A SHOP MIGHT BE AN EASY FIX
my parents only keep school pictures of us after we turn 5
I learned to ride a bike when I was 7. don't remember having a trike or anything...
Awesome photos guys! Erok: what is the orange & white thing on your handlebars?
@mm: I'm not sure the vintage or make of that car in my photo - it must've belonged to the neighbors. Reminds me of some 60s-era Renaults I rode in in Macedonia. Maybe its a VW Notchback?
edmonds59, is that a front rack for touring?
Ha ha, yes!
Btw pseuda, that does look like a Renault 4, where the heck did you live?
Not as young as the previous pictures. I think I was around 16. Sweet air on a GT bmx!
WHERE IS YOUR HELMET YOUNG MAN?!!
just kidding. These pictures are cool. I was just at my grandma's house last night looking through old pics. They were so disorganized that I got sick of looking at them. I didn't come across any of me on a bike, but I will look at my parents' house next weekend.
if i remember, the thing on my handlebars would make sounds like that electronic bomb drop and lasers and shit. you know to shoot things.
sloaps, that photo is amazing, the OG bike ninja
i also just realized that i have a yellow lightning bolt that looks exactly like the one on the handlebar pad, on a current bike that i ride
Sloaps wins. I just don't see how anyone could possibly trump that one.
i don't recall the nightrider making noise, but i'm sure i blew up lots of stuff and saved lots of civilizations riding that bike.
i'm digging edmonds' pompadour confidence and onesie comfort.
knight rider bike with karate kid headband???
Pop culture madman!!!
Wonder if that will work?
that's a great shot steevo. does your bro have any?
there's gotta be more of you with kid shots out there. i guarantee brad q has one.
Based on my picture that I found, above, I will have apparently been riding a pedal bike for half a century, as of Christmas '012. That is messed up, that's 1/5 of the age of the U.S.
Anyway it seems like I should set some notable goal for '12. Bike to work 50 days in '12? An effort but do-able. Ride 5,000 miles in '12? Tougher. 50 mi/week in '12? Something? 2 days to decide.
I started a goal thread here.
@edmonds, how about riding a bike 50 minutes a day? (that's 5 hours 50 minutes per week)? You could also use an indoor trainer with this goal.
Ok, another option to think about.
i wanna see stu as a kid on a unicycle
I was 15 when we got the wheel. I'll dig around and see what I can come up with.
top for steevo
sorry to do this to you jane, but this one was just too good not to share. for those that missed the membership meeting, here's an incredible pic of jane and why she became a bike advocate - fist in the air and all!
Jane's "bike power" fist is amazing! Here's my pic from the meeting too:
