Purple spokes?

So I have decided to lace up a set of wheels for a friend as a gift. I would like to do a black wheel with purple spokes, nipples, and hub. I have found the nipples, and was probably going to try to paint the hubs. Primo makes a variety of colored spokes, but no purple ones.

Any ideas? or maybe would it be better to build the wheel then have it powdercoated or something?

Nail polish, then a layer of clear coat?

I dunno about power coating a built wheel...

My first thought was those Primo spokes... Otherwise, I got nothing.

Purple hubs are out there though, tons of them.

Quite a few BMX companies are doing colored spokes, but unless you are building up 20" wheels, forget it.

I found some shadow conspiracy spokes that are purple but it doesn't look like they make them in anything bigger than about a 194mm.

Did some more looking today. I am thinking more now, from a cost and style perspective about changing the color scheme to black rim, purple nipples, white spokes and purple hubs. DTswiss makes white double butted spokes that I think would be perfect for the application.

The Soma spokes are straight gauge; they are not yet available through the distributor network, but Soma may have them available for direct sales to either you or a dealer. They will be reasonably priced.

The white DT Swiss DB spokes are 3x the cost of their silver or black DB spokes. They provide no structural or performance benefit over DT's black or silver DB spokes. If I were going to spend 3x more on spokes, I would consider Sapim CX-ray spokes.

I found another vendor that is selling 14g stainless white anodized straight spokes for 85c each. I will look into the soma spokes.
