not quite sure what "won't grab" means, but you might try spraying some tri-flow in the cable housing and some on the springs/hinges on the rear derailleur for starters.
rear derailleur lever won't grab
It's weird. The lever moves the chain up the cogs about half way but then the lever won't grab anything and I can't get the derailleur to move the chain up anymore. I can click down fine. I've tightened the cable and messed with the limit screws and the cable adjustments but none of this seems to do anything. Any ideas?
sorry, that was scott, not andy who answered that question. he was still logged in on my computer.
Thanks, Scott. I'll try that. What I meant by "won't grab" is that I can push the lever a few times to move it up the sprockets, but it stops about half way. I can push the lever forward, but it does nothing - there's no resistance like there should be. Thanks, again.
What kind of lever?
I'm guess you have one of the modern sort of shifter levers, either brifters or pods. Sounds like something's gummed up in the mechanism such that it isn't pulling the cable enough.
