Replacement Grate on Babcock Boulevard
I just got a phone message from Allegheny County telling me that the sewer grate with the bicycle tire eating orientation (slats parallel to the curb) has been replaced with a new, bike friendly grate. In the message I received, the "ironworkers" had to manufacture a new grate, as the old one was not quite square, hence the delay in resolvingt his issue. It is my understanding that the new grate was put in place earlier today.

No, I did not request one for the 40th Street Bridge, as I did not know there was an offending grate on it.
Can you tell me where the grate in question is, on the bridge? It's a silly question, I realize, but the field crews want to be as efficient as possible in their scoping visits.
Ideally, I'd give them the direction of travel, the lane the grate is in, and approximate location -- measured in distance from a discernable feature such as a ramp, or a unique sign. A description of the problem is also helpful -- openings on grate are aligned parallel to direction of travel, posing hazard to bikes, or grate is depressed raised posing hazard to cyclists, or lip or grate protrudes above surface in a way that is hazardous to cyclists, etc.

Sara, there's also at least one on the 10th St bridge. There's a grate with parallel slots to the street and it's in a deep dip in the road. Not good. Do you know who owns 10th St Bridge? I'm guessing the county.

sorry, my question seemed brash, but did they
seriously only make ONE? Is there a stand size for
the hole they are covering?
