Retroshift

There was a lot of talk on the DD tweet thread about thumbies, thumbshifters, suntour xc pros, etc. But what about this retroshift with said shifters?

I saw this on another forum. Could work if you have long fingers, but it looks like hell on your wrist if you don't.

Not bad.

I do remember some old adapters similar to the Retroshift that instead put the shifter inboard of the brake lever, rather than our on the end of the hood. It wasn't the Suntour Command.

...some searching around tells me it was the Kelly Take Off I was thinking of...

A few years ago, before I went over to the dark side of brifters, I considered a set of Kelly Take-offs. Nifty idea, as are the Paul's Thumbies.

I'm not sure I'm sold on the Retroshifters for 'cross. When (not if) you crash, the levers are likely going to take the brunt of the fall. Some racers don't run high-end brifters for that very reason, so I'm not sure this idea is much better. If you're really concerned about durability and serviceability, use a set of bar-end shifters.

YMMV, of course.
