Ride carefully. Tis the season for lots of drunks and such.

Tonight (Wednesday before Thanksgiving) is usually the biggest bar night in Pittsburgh not associated with a superbowl or stanely cup too. Lots of young’uns home from college or from out of state getting back together with old friends.

Best to get home early.

Both the headline and body of the article consistently referred to them as crashes. Not "accidents".

Progress, in itty bitty steps.

Traditionally I stay in. Tonight is no different, got some movies, got some housework to do and I should be good until Sunday.

Just got home from work. It was a really nice ride. Oddly it was pretty quiet once I got out of East Liberty into Highland Park. Heard a lot of sirens and a few police cars heading toward Homewood, but that is every night, so nothing new there. Enjoy the holiday if you celebrate it.

^hey h_curtis, I mean, gg. Why do you have an axe to grind regarding East Liberty and Homewood?

2012-11-27 18:04:55

^Xamot, this is a very strange thing to write in your very first post to this message board. Please, spare the trolling.

@gg: I live a few blocks from Homewood and I do not hear sirens every night.

Most of the sirens I hear are ambulances because there are so many hospitals around to be honest. So far the holiday haven't been too bad for cycling though. I just wanted to mention that Thanksgiving holiday stuff. It is a drinking holiday it seems and that ins't always good for cyclists.

@gg, are you the same person as h_curtis?

If not, please clear the air!

Hey, I've got an idea. Even if gg is the same person as h_curtis, please let's give it a rest.

Along with jabs at Homewood, yes!

I don't know who xamot is, but I'd been wondering about the apparent similarities between gg and the erstwhile (and, lest we forget, not merely wandered-off but banned...) hcurtis for a couple weeks as well.

No "jabs". That would be more than one. My apologies if someone was offended about the siren comment. I live next to a hospital and hear them day and night as well as helicopters flying in and out (life flight). Guess I don't see the big deal about it, but whatever. Anyway, I would like to get back to cycling in Pittsburgh. Thanks.

Drunks. I tweeted while on a ride Friday morning. Babcock Blvd, Ross Twp, near Siebert. A car comes up behind me, not going all that fast, slightly wavering, as if not quite sure where the entrance to the carpet shop is, has the right blinker on, then turns left onto a side street.

8:30 in the morning? Really?

i had someone driving in the bike lane behind me for most of my way up liberty (from about west penn to baum, though he passed me before getting back in the bike lane and turning right on baum) on my way home today. it was closer to 8:30 pm than am (in fact, very nearly 20:30), but still. either this person had absolutely no idea how to operate a motor vehicle, or was just more than a couple sheets to the wind. either way, i don't understand it.
