Route to the airport area

I want to participate in car free friday. I live in Forest Hills and work out by the International Airport. Any recommendations on a route.

Not sure which part of forest hills, but I would

come in Brinton ave to race to railroad, then find

my way to downtown. If you need help post again.

Where about near the airport? Cause it is like a

divider in my mind. The moon side is approached one

way, but the imperial side is approached another.

Anyway, from town.

Out north shore trail. West end bridge. Up

Noblestown out of the west end. Stay on it until

carneggie, at which point you have to move

a block to the right to stay on... noblestown.

Second light (?) out of carneggie puts you up

to Ewing Rd. Take this for a few miles UP to the

stopsign, turn right on baldwin (google maps has this as ridge rd, but I swear to god it is baldwin its a 3 way stop at the top of a hill). Follow baldwin or ridge.

This will put you up to the entrance to settlers cabin. Go straight into it and follow it to the light.

At the light if you want to get down to robinson, make a right and take campbells run.

If you are trying to get to imperial, go left and take bayer rd to the old stuebuenville pike.

For the village of imperial and those places (mcclarren rd...) I would make a right off of the old stuebenville onto the road with like 6 names (cliff mine, clinton enlow, stuebenville pike enlow... there are 3 differnt signs at the top)..

Take this DOWN to "main st" in imperial. Left goes into imperial, right takes you back to the mcclaren rd exit off of 60.

This might all seem crazy but if you say exactly where we can come up with it.

Also: When you are at the cliffmine/main st/whatever intersection at the bottom, there is a secret road that goes straight. it says no outlet, but it actually goes onto the airport property and cuts across to clinton. It is a great road. Google maps images probably has it, but the maps shows the road as ending. awesome.

You should get in touch with Diana from the PG about your commute on Friday

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to the Air National Guard base on McClaren. I'm comfortable getting into town, Just wasn't sure how to get through the westend. Thanks again.

Yeah do the noblestown - ewing- settlers - bayer - old steubenville - cliff mine - mcclaren.

If you are planning on doing this regularly, there

is a way to cut through crafton to avoid the sprawl

on noblestown where it hits 121.

Basically you stay on 60 (crafton blvd) stay

straight when it turns right, cross over the bus

way, make the next left on hawthorn, follow til T

make left down hill go back under bus way, make

right and it hits noblestown again. It is like

a suburban cut to avoid the lights/traffic, not

necessary, but after a few times those things

get annoying.

Made the ride in this morning. It was a good ride. Traffic was light. I ended up taking Noblestown road all the way into Carnegie and then picking up Cambells run. We'll see how the ride home pans out. Thanks for your help. I'm going to try to do this ride at least once a week. I'll try the other routes.

I use to work at Cherrington Corporate Center across from the Reserve base and would take: Campbells Run Road to Rt. 60, down through Robinson Mall, up FedEx Hill, left on Broadhead down past Scalley's, Rt up to Cherrington, Left down through Cherrington then you would head over to Reserve base. If you pass through Campbells early enough it's not bad (pre 7am) after that it gets busy with traffic.

Our office is now on Campbells Run Rd at Penn Center West and commute regularly.

The ride isn't too bad except for the traffic by the mall in the afternoon, and the hill out of Carnegie on RT 50, and the hill right past Rt 121, and of course the dreaded west end circle. I'm going to bike it a couple times a week, work permitting.
