Couldn't really find another thread to put this into... I have only attended the Pool Ride, Moonlight ride, and Try-A-Bike, but I'm kind of mourning the fact that BikeFest ends tomorrow (and I won't be attending any of those rides)
Also sad there wasn't a half dirty dozen this year and that I wasn't rested enough to have the willingness to participate in the neighborhood ride.
Despite my regular griping, I appreciate this community and get a better feel for it during BikeFest and meet people I don't usually interact with, and get to interact with people I know, but don't usually run into
This whole week, no major accidents, and the James Price memorial reflected very well on cyclists thanks to Nick and Scott. Penn is in much better shape now--I was riding there Friday, chasing a bus, and saw the signs--share the road, watch for bicyclists. This is a watershed year for cycling in Pittsburgh.

I am actually exhausted from attending some bike fest activity nearly every day. They have all been fun. Thanks to those who showed up on my light up ride.
yeah, busy week indeed. still kinda bummed i'll be stuck at work sunday and have to miss the GGSH, but i can head over to the end & cheer on the finishers.
and nice to meet some of the faces & people on the other side of some of these posts too.
It was a nice ride Stef, and the public reactions are Carson were a hoot.
Nice to formally meet you also. Carson is always an experience, especially on the weekends.
I finally made it to a BikeFest event, the Light Up Ride. I was the last to leave. As I was mounting my bike rack on my car, an older man came over to ask if I needed help. I didn't, but we got to talking. He bicycles (actually had one on his car parked a few feet away), had seen the ride, didn't know how to get involved. So we stood there and talked, jeez, must've been 20 minutes or more beyond getting the rack on, then the bike on. Car racks, lighting, riding on the street, finding group rides, the message board, the various other clubs in the area, all manner of stuff. It's interactions like this that will encourage others to get out and try riding more often.

The one missed opportunity I thought of regarding these rides - this occurred to me on the Friday ride - everybody needs to carry a little stack of post card sized Bike Pgh! info cards to hand out to innocent bystanders. On the Friday ride a dozen+ people we passed were asking "what's going on?" (in a smiley I kind of wish I was doing that kind of way).
A million thanks to ride leaders and event organizers. Last weekend we went on the hollow ride and attended the Try-a-Bike Jamboree. Nate also did the tree ride and every-neighborhood ride.
Routes and logistics were well thought out and well researched. Best of all, these events were very welcoming to a variety of people. That takes a lot of work.
I'm sure other rides and events were equally well planned and executed -- just couldn't make it to those.

I didn't get to as many bike fest events as I had hoped, but still feel a little sad that it is over for another year.
Great job to all who organized, implemented, improvised and participated. You all contributed to to a great community building event. I've enjoyed every vicarious moment!

Hm.... let me see:
The tally for BIKEFEST related-events I attended came to 264.07 miles.
NOTE that this includes miles traveled between my place of residence & the starting/end point of rides.
My total mileague from 8/5 to 8/19 -the two weeks of BIKEFEST with non-event related miles included is 301.07 miles...
Ok, no wonder I'm tired...

Yikes. The worst we got was a "LANCE!" from some dude on Carson.
I am also exhausted from bike fest. I need a day off of the bike now and then, but I don't see that happening until Thursday.
