I've gotten many cycling jersey zippers repaired at tailors for around $20, FYI.

the title of this post should be "spring cleaning for small people"

Ditto on the zipper repair. Irene's in Squirrel Hill did it for 20. Good job, too.

$20 for a hard case is a super good deal, even if it's beat.

I'd like that hard case, but I'll shoot an email for some pics first.

chemicaldave
2012-03-01 23:42:55

Is that really a 853 Cross Check? I thought they were 631 before switching to more basic 4130. Whatever, still a good deal regardless of tubing.

Good deals all around for this stuff.

ALSO:

Planet X road bike. carbon frame/fork.

Sram RED cranks 50/36. Shifter. I think force rear ultegra front ders. Alex A class wheels. carbon post. cane creek lightweight brakes.

I'd be willing to take a chance on that hard case, and then make it available as a loaner to folks on the board. I think this groups needs that sort of "lending bank" for some of the larger, very occasional use stuff.

swalfoort
2012-03-02 16:41:27

swalfort, if that is the case, you can have it.

you store it.

steevo

Hope you don't mind me tagging on to this, didn't seem worth a new thread.

Shoes;

Adidas bike shoes, mens size 9 (43) but it is a tight narrow 9, more like 8.5 narrow. Gently worn, good stiff sole, can be SPD'd. I just need to admit they're too tight. Free.

SixSixOne shoes, mens 7 (40). SPD clips installed, but you could remove them and cover the hole and they would still be nice. Wish I had kept the cover plate for the bottom but I didn't. Stiff. Not worn at all, my son blew through this size without even having a chance to wear them. $5.

I can bring these downtown M - F 9 am to 5 pm. Pm me.

@steevo - I got a big basement. Storing the case is not a problem. PM me and we can work out pick up options.

swalfoort
2012-03-05 00:28:09

Tagging on. I have

1 Pearl Izumi leg warmers, medium. Small tear in the left one.

1 Castelli leg warmers size small. Not nanoflex. Windproof front.

1 Pearl Izumi knee warmers. Size medium.

Each free with a $15 donation to Bike Pgh. I will deliver to Espresso A Mano which is like a block from Bike PGH offices.

Burley trailer.

I paid $80 for it 5 years ago, it was pristine. It's been left outside a lot so cosmetically it's beat but mechanically just fine. It's a single child model.

$20 donation to Bike PGH takes it.

mayhew
2012-03-30 18:25:06

I'll take the trailer

benzo
2012-03-30 19:08:55

Ah ben you beat me to it. After you get that id like to check out the hitch design on it. My current trailer needs a better hitch and I remember burley having a good system.

willie

benzo
2012-03-30 19:25:47

Indeed willie, you can check it out. If it doesn't work out well for me, I'll pass it down the line. I occasionally want a trailer for hauling some light cargo or groceries.

benzo

Ive got a set of 700c Matrix Titan II wheels that someone can have. They are an older wheel that were taken off a bike but they've never been used. Theres a 7 or 8spd cassette on there but the only catch is they are a freewheel hub. If anyone can use these they are more than welcome to them. Pick up in Oakland.

boostuv

I have an "almost new" Thule 970XT Helium rack. I used it exactly once but unfortunately it just doesn't work well with the goofy hitch system on my wife's mini. It just ends up protruding too far from the back of the car but that is a fault of the "sport link" system and not this rack. If you have a normal receiver hitch it's a great rack and I wish I could make it work.

Anyways, I bought it from REI and I hear their return policy is great (although I threw out the box if that matters). But, since the price seems to have gone up first , maybe this is a dumb idea but I thought it could be a win/win if anyone is looking for one. I paid exactly $282.36 including tax - I'd take a little less but if it's too much less I might as well try to return it first. REI is selling it for $340 now, $305 on amazon.

Kyle, I'll get those wheels from you someday this week.

If anyone is interested in the rear wheel, it's all yours, as I only need the front so I have as many front wheels as bikes.

kgavala
2012-04-02 12:29:19

Cannondale CAAD 10 dura ace shfiters /ders.

Ultegra brakes. FSA carbon cranks. All

cannondale bars/stem/post. Cane creek wheels

steevo
2012-04-02 12:57:15

Kayla - I'd be in to that rear wheel if you grab it, I've been looking for a geared rear to use for a rear on my cross bike.

benzo
2012-04-03 12:29:06

This stuff is free to a good home:

1. A very old Campagnolo aero front wheel. It is in good shape.

2. A Profile (I think) stem adapter for using 1 1/8" threadless stems with old-style threaded forks.

3. A 30.9 mm Easton EC70 carbon seatpost. It fits late-model Specialized MTBs.

Send me an email at jcm250b (at) juno (dot) com if interested. I'd like someone to use this since I won't.

jmccrea
2012-04-03 14:03:09

I took the rack to REI and they let me return it no problem, so I guess their policy is as good as everyone says - thanks sara!

I still have a pair of size 45 shimano sh-m034 shoes, used but in good shape, with spd cleats, FREE!

cburch

More basement clearings-out.

Free to a good home: home-built recumbent frame/fork/front wheel/steering bits/seat frame + fabric for seat cover. Basically, all the non-standard bits to which one adds standard road or MTB parts. The new owner will need to sew the fabric together around the seat frame, and scavenge all the other parts...I highly recommend talking to Gerry Kraynick on the subject.

This was my first 'bent...the frame's in dire need of repainting, and the overall quality is about what you'd expect for something welded together out of a couple scrapped old Raleigh bikes. That said, I put a good few thousand miles on it before dropping the coin on a store-bought model.

Images below show what it looked like upon first build.
