STOLEN - 1988 Black Peugeot Iseran SS/Fixed

My 1988 Peugeot Iseran P6 fixed gear bicycle was stolen from outside PNC Park (it was locked up behind Mcfaddens) on 8/26/2012 between 2 pm and 4 pm. This is a very recognizable bike with unique components, so if you see anyone riding it, taking it into a shop to sell, or posted on-line for sale, please call me at [number removed at the OP's request] ASAP. Any information about the bike would be appreciated.

Details, Specs, and Components:

- Original brakes were replaced with Cane Creek SCR-5 aero brake levers and Tektro R556 calipers with all black Jagwire cable housing.

- Original wheels were replaced with a Weinmann 27” flip flop hub rear wheel and matching front wheel. Both rims have a distinct red sticker on them that says Weinmann. Both wheels are fitted with black 27” Vittoria Zafirro tires.

- 46T Origin 8 singlespeed crankset which is sliver/grey with MKS Sylvan Track pedals in a silver/chrome. The bike had 3/32” chain on it with an 18T fixed cog and and 18T Shimano 3/32” singlespeed freewheel. When the bike was stolen it was setup on the fixed gear side.

- There is a very unique dent which is about ½” by 1” located on the top tube towards the front on the bike on the right side of the first brake cable braze-on. Both front and rear reflectors have been removed.

- When the bike was stolen it had a red rear blinker light attached to the seatpost. This was made by Bontrager and has a small lower case “b” on it. There is also a front light mount attached to the stem – this is made by Serfas.

- Plain black SE classic saddle with a bottle opener in the rear. Kickstand was removed.

- There was a chrome bottle cage/holder mounted on the down tube. The frame size is approximately 53 cm.

I'm not sure how to include a picture in the post, but you can view the bike by visiting this link:

*Please note that the picture was taken before I converted the bike to a ss/fixed gear. In it's present state, the bike has aero brakes with black brake cables and a plain black saddle.

I'm offering a $100 reward for anyone that can return the bike. A police report has been filed with the Pittsburgh Police Zone 1, so if you see the bike, please either call me or report it to 911, report number 166949.

Thank you,

Ben

Sorry for the loss. There has been quite a few thefts recently. May I ask how it was locked i.e. cable or u-lock?

Hopefully someone will see it - keep your fingers crossed.

It was locked with a cable/combo lock. I secured the lock through the frame and front wheel to a solid metal fence behind Mcfaddens just off the North Shore Trail. There were probably 5-8 other bicycles locked up nearby on the same fence and probably 50-100 other bikes around PNC Park.

I had been told and read that the cable locks are useless, but I guess I had to learn the hard way. :( The thief took the lock too, or possibly threw it in the bush nearby.

Needless to say, I'll be purchasing a U-lock now to use with my other bike.

I recovered my Peugeot!

It was laying along the north shore trail near the Rivers Casino. Some homeless looking guy in his mid to late 20s was standing next to it smoking a cigarette. I walked up to him, pulled out my phone and dialed 911. After I got off the phone, he said he wasn't riding it and it had been laying there, so who knows. He walked off.

I know it's been said on here a billion times, but lock up your bike with a u-lock or better yet, two u-locks. I had used a cable lock and someone cut right through it. Cable locks are useless.

A big thanks to the guys at Bicycle Heaven. They let me hang out there while I waited for the Police to show up.

If anyone reading this hasn't been there yet, check it out asap. That place is awesome and we're lucky to have it here in Pittsburgh.

@Ben

Sounds like your bike didn't travel very far.

I'm guessing that if the guy standing next to the bike knew there was a reward, you would have gotten back sooner.
