my bike shop is very close to that I will keep a eye out,,,that should be a easy bike to spot,,i bet they use it for parts or look for the motor on another bike,,

My prime suspect is about 120lbs, goatee and ball cap. (white guy) Was going to phone your shop and Jerry etc. The charger is not with it, so if anyone asks about charger.. Tell them you have one, they can even stop by and use etc etc.. then call the cops! (and me) What I figure is he'll joy ride it till dead (40mi or so) and dump it into river. Or sell it for a stamp bag.

Very sorry to hear it go missing, hope it shows up soon. Especially since you mentioned this is your only means of transport... if you share the size / type of bike you're comfortable riding, if you can make do with something without an assist, I'm guessing someone would have something they can loan you.

Hi, today will tell how cooperative the manager of McDonalds is about sharing the content of the video log from the camera that watches the door / spot where it was parked. (and the reason I was often lax on chaining it up). He may insist on it being a request from the cops. I got the impression from the responding cops that they were not taking it seriously, my "incident number" is on a 2.5/3" bit of note paper. For the more experianced, should there have been a more formal form/report? Did the cops just shine me on? Should I have told them there were 3 dozen DOUGHNUTS in the pannier maybe? Meanwhile, let me respond to the idea of a loaner bike. I am short, stubby etc. Have some arthritis in knees, neuropathy in feet. Inseam is around 24" So this is the reason my bike was a girls frame and seat nearly at lowest (26" wheels) I also live up near Horace Mann school, lots if hill. So need a "PGH gearset" (as Bethani calls it) I'll head down to the scene of the crime in a bit and talk to Mr Manager, will report back. Thanks

RECOVERED!! Coming home from Kraynicks with a loaner bike and low and behold there is my bike, missing things (light / panneier full of tools and parts) flat tire and chain wrapped around the gear set and broken trunk box. Laying in the midst of the pavement in the playground near Giant Eagle in N.Side. I'm out $150-200 in parts/tools but at least the high dollar parts (batt and motor and speed controll) are intact! Many thanks to all on this forum who I'm sure were on the lookout and thanks for offer(s) of loaner bike(s). It's things like this that show our sense of community. Anyone who needs help or wants to talk shop on Electric Assist, feel free to hit me up any time!

Very glad to hear the bike reappeared. Would definitely be interested in talking shop... thinking mainly in terms of towing duties. There was at some point a posting about a meetup in squirrel hill on the topic of brushless motors. I tried and failed to make it (was late and either it didn't happen or they had adjourned to another location).

Sounds good. Towing is torque, many of the ebike ppl are focused on speed. Obviously the more load the less range you'll get. Brushless is a nice idea but I put 5500 miles (approx) on a 450w currie motor (brushed) and there was no sign of the brushes wearing bad, the bushing on the output shaft wore out. (Btw, am open to suggestions of a motor repair shop to press a new bushing in) Anyway, please give me a call at local area code + 407-ride and we'll meet up. ps:90% or more of hub motors use plastic gears or at least 1 out of 3 in the planetary as a protection or something.
