Thanks for setting a great example

Just wanted to "thank" the two guys I saw on my lunch break who:

1) Filtered to the right of another bike which was stopped at the "stop here on red" line;

2) Filtered to the right of a car at the front of an intersection that clearly had its right turn signal on;

3) Rode on the yellow line and then in a bus lane to pass a truck on the left;

4) And then finished it off by turning the wrong way on a one-way street.

All in the course of about 45 seconds. Truly, you are an inspiration to us all.

In unrelated news, I think I'm going to start shouting "gangway!" instead of "on your left!" because I suspect a good chunk of the population is wired to move in whatever random direction is shouted at them.

that first one happens to me a lot, by cyclists that ultimately run the red light. it's a great opportunity to get in good with the drivers nearby by shaking your head and giving them a 'get a load of THAT guy..' look, as if so say 'i would never do that, please don't take your frustration out on me.' I also quit saying 'on your left' a while ago because it terrifies and confuses people, and they will usually scurry to the left. i usually just say 'pardon me' in my sweetest, loudest, voice from a distance so they have a chance to figure out what's going on.

There could probably be some funny "Real Men of Genius" commercials made about this guy, and any dude employing a driving tactic that annoys the shit out of us.

I could see a real men of genius ad for the roadie who filters through traffic and can't get clipped in when the light changes holding everyone up in the process. :)

I filter avidly.

OTOH, if I started clipping myself in for rides in traffic, I would hesitate about it.
