three rivers bike racks

I've got a friend with a business that (IMHO) is crying out for some good bike parking. I want to encourage him to talk to the building owner about getting a three rivers bike rack. After reading at http://bike-pgh.org/campaigns/three-rivers-bike-racks/ I wasn't sure what to tell him as far as what it will cost. (The page mentions grants, but I'm not sure how much of the cost they cover.) Can't find that old thread about them either. Anybody know the deal?

the city had a request thingy for free racks. as far as i know, all 200 of the racks were requested and have a place to go.

now we need to find more $$$ to fund more racks. i imagine in the future, any free racks will be the upside down "U" racks, but that's completely up in the air.

He can install those for about $100 or so each.

there is a small process if he wants to put one in the public right of way, but if it's on private property, he can put one anywhere

+5 On upside down U racks

Although they don't remind me I'm in Pittsburgh, I think they're a lot more functional

Out of those 200 how many are yet to be installed? I saw a huge pile of them in some city works yard in upper Lawrenceville...
