Where can I store my bike?

I live on top of a store front on E Carson St and I was wondering if anyone else is in my same situation. If i keep my bike in my apt, I have to carry it up two flights of very narrow stairs and around a tight corner. Where do you keep your bike? Any suggestions of safe places to store it? Thanks!

I just moved and now carry my bike up to my apartment. Stairwells are pretty wide though.

I used to carry up a fire escape at my GF's apt.

With all the bikes getting jacked recently, I'd be doing multiple locks parking it on the street overnight.

That is a though one. A folding bike would be easy to carry up the steps. Or you could lock a beater up outside.

I dont even know if I would recommend locking it up outside overnight considering there are some.. "characters" that love their hooch on the ss.

Urine would be a good night, but I can think of worse.

i've definitely heard stories of dumb drunk dudes deciding it would be funny to beat up a bike locked on Carson.

can you put a hook up and create some way to lock it up in the hallway?

Crazy idea: Build a frame which supports a 2x4 sticking out through a window. Rig a block and tackle from it and suspend the bike outside, et cetera.

Like this.

you'd need a code variance to "bearproof" your bike and k-rations by suspending it over the sidewalk on carson.

Once you get that: I've seen flagpoles with padlocked covers over the bottom hitch/tackle area. perhaps mount one of those on the side of the building, with the line encased in conduit up to the roof mount.

good luck!

thanks for all the ideas! I REALLY want to get a new bike, but I think i'll test my luck with my old one for now. I'll let you know what ends up working. THANKS
